2016-17 Annual Campaign

Dear Friends,

Spring is finally here!

As we all know, while it wasn’t the worst of winters, the weather did have quite a punch, particularly late March.  As the storm(s) knocked out power throughout Monroe County, LVR did without power and digital capabilities for nearly a week.

While we hammered through the challenges that week, some staff members worked from home while others got creative and strategically placed extension cords throughout the office to where we did have power in our building. I was struck by the resilience of LVR, and our ability to overcome challenges. If I had to guess, I’d say we get that from our volunteers and the adults we serve every day.

LVR program participants face the challenges of literacy each and every day, whether it’s learning the English language, applying for a job online, or reading and understanding a prescription.

Our volunteers have their own challenges in balancing their volunteer time with work or home time, while adapting to the needs of their student or a digital literacy participant, and having the patience to help people achieve their goals.

As we near the end of our 2016-2017 program and fiscal year on June 30th, we ask that you join us in meeting another challenge.  As of today, Literacy Volunteers is at 82% of our Annual Campaign goal.  To help us with the challenge of reaching our goal, we’re asking you to please consider giving to LVR again this year – perhaps even at an increased level – making an even greater impact.

By donating today you will be a part of helping the individuals we serve in our community to overcome their challenges.

Thank you for your continued support of LVR and the work that we do. We are glad to have you as part of our resilient family of supporters.
