When completing the 2020 Census, be sure to count everyone living at the address as of April 1, 2020. Even if multiple families live in one household or if unrelated individuals are living together, everyone is to be counted on one questionnaire. This includes:
- Newborns
- Young children
- Friends
- Roommates
- Renters
- Immigrants
- Non-citizens
- All family members
- Anyone living and sleeping there most of the time
It is especially important to count kids ages 0 – 4 years old. They are historically undercounted and end up missing out on funding over the next decade that supports their development; from education to nutrition to healthcare.
There are special circumstances that affect who gets counted where. Visit Who to Count for more information.
