Digital Literacy has been working with Monroe County Recruiting on the Road for almost 2 years and in that time we have helped hundreds of individuals to connect with local employers. The Digital Literacy Volunteers have been at events around the community to assist job seekers with online applications, some for the first time.
This year held a new challenge for Rich Turner and his team, making these job fairs and recruiting events virtual. They have been providing events like these since the spring to connect employers and job seekers even when face-to-face was not an option. When Literacy Rochester and the Office of Adult and Career Educations Services (OACES) at Rochester City School District were exploring the best way to support adult education students with their career goals we knew that Recruiting on the Road would be a great partner.
Our first Virtual Job Fair was held on September 2, 2020 and it allowed adult education students to have a safe and comfortable space to ask questions, learn the process and connect with employers in the area without feeling intimidated or overwhelmed.
We hope that this was just the first of many opportunities like this for our customers and students.
A special thank you to LiDestri Foods and RADA (Rochester Automobile Dealers Association).
