Christian is one of Literacy Rochester’s newest board members! We’re excited to welcome him to the team!
Christian is a Rochester native, having grown up in Fairport and attending Monroe Community College and St. John Fisher University. He found himself drawn towards a career in finance and the idea of working together with others in teams. After a brief internship with the University of Rochester, a recruiter at LiDestri Foods reached out and offered him a position. Christian has been with LiDestri ever since and recently celebrated his five-year anniversary.
Since starting at LiDestri, Christian quickly became friends with current Literacy Rochester Vice President, Jorge Arroyo. Jorge often talked about his volunteer experience with the Digital Literacy program and his new role as a board member. Jorge encouraged Christian to learn more about joining the board when the opportunity arose. Christian hadn’t considered being on a board yet in his professional career. However, after talking to others at Literacy Rochester, he felt confident that his experience would be valuable. This year, Christian decided to apply and is now a board member!
“I’m excited to make an impact where I can and share my time to benefit the organization”
Christian was inspired by our learners to join the board, “they are dedicating their time to better themselves, so I want to help them succeed.” Christian hopes to see firsthand how decisions impact the operations of the whole organization. At LiDestri, he works on promoting efficiency and day-to-day operations, so being on the board will give Christian some insight into macro level decision-making processes.
Outside of work, Christian enjoys spending time with family and friends. You can find him watching a Buffalo Bills game or playing volleyball at Hot Shots Volleyball!
