Meet a Board Member…. John Roman, Jr.

Born and raised in Rochester, NY Mr. John G. Roman, Jr. is the newest President and Chairman of the Board for Literacy Rochester.  He is presently the President and Chief Operating Officer of The Bonadio Group’s information risk management and cybersecurity consulting division, FoxPointe Solution where he leads a team of information risk management and cyber security professionals who advise clients on a variety of cyber security matters.   Mr. Roman continues to serve as The Bonadio Group’s chief information officer.  Before joining The Bonadio Group, Mr. Roman worked for Nixon Peabody for 12 years where he was Director of IT Operations.  Mr. Roman has been on Literacy Rochester’s Board since 2016.  
Prior to being named President, Mr. Roman was Vice President and Chair of Literacy Rochester’s major fund raiser The Brain Game.  He previously served as Secretary of the Board of Directors for Heritage Christian Services Foundation.
 
For almost 40 years, Mr. Roman has been in the information technology industry.  Starting off repairing copiers to holding a variety of technical, sales, and management positions for companies as large as the Xerox Corporation and as small as a local start up.  
Mr. Roman brings experience working with non-for profits both locally and throughout the North East in terms of consulting and serving on various committees and boards. While at Nixon Peabody he served on the Chief Justice of the State of NY’s Technology Task Force where he worked with other law firm technology leaders to advise legal aid societies throughout New York on technology initiatives.  He has been published in numerous industry publications and has been asked to speak on topics related to information security.   
 
Mr. Roman is an adjunct professor at The Rochester Institute of Technology and Monroe Community College where he teaches cybersecurity and legal technology courses.  He is married with two grown children. 
 
Mr. Roman holds associates and bachelor’s degrees from the Rochester Institute of Technology and Roberts Wesleyan College.  He is also Certified as an Information Systems Security Professional and is a member of the Federal Bureau of Investigations InfraGard partnership.
