Meet a Board Member….. Christine Stewart

As a young mother one of my fondest memories was reading to my children each night before they went to bed.  We valued this time so much and it was amazing watching them learn to read through the repetition of many of the books we read.  Reading at such a young age was helpful in creating a strong foundation for them.  Education has always been very important to me; because it creates equality, opens doors, and allows for personal growth.
When my close friend of almost 30 years Ragni Mehta asked me if I would consider joining the Literacy Rochester board I was very interested.  Since my children are grown and in college, it had been on my mind to find an opportunity to give back to the community through volunteer work.  After researching and learning more about Literacy Rochester, I was excited about the opportunity to help.  I’m looking forward to finding ways that I can contribute to help advance the mission of the organization.
