As defined by Merriam – Webster dictionary,
Literacy is:
–The ability to read and write.
–Knowledge that relates to specified subject.
Literacy is not just about reading and writing, it involves so many more topics from math and finance to health and computers. Here at Literacy Rochester, our mission is to help improve the reading, math, English language, and digital literacy skills of adult in Monroe County. Though those four topics are our primary focus, we work to include all types of literacy into programming and curriculum.
We work to support our program participants in achieving their personal goals so that they are able to be fully engaged in the community as parents, workers, consumers, and citizens.
