One of the most effective ways to overcome poverty is through education; literacy and language access are essential for meaningful education. By joining the Board of Literacy Rochester, I am able to bring my passion for empowering folks in our community with services they may need, while also connecting people with literacy and education.
Amanda Gallipeau is Manager with the Health Law Unit in Empire Justice Center’s Rochester office. Her work is focused on assisting those who are struggling to access health benefits, providing direct client services, technical assistance and training to advocates, as well as policy work. She is responsible for the management and reporting of the various funding contracts that support the work of the health team. Amanda serves on various workgroups that serve to increase health insurance coverage and expand access to care, by promoting universal coverage, monitoring state policy, and tracking the impact of the lack of insurance to the most vulnerable New Yorkers.
